Thanks for visiting the Love 40 days blog...
In John 13:34 we find a commandment from Jesus: "love one another." This Lent we are going to spend 40 days trying to live this out. We hope you will join us!
This is the place to find everything you need to help you on your Love 40 days journey. You can use the tabs above to discover why we are taking this journey, to figure out how you are going to join in, and to find some ideas to get you started.
From 13th February you can visit here to find a daily scripture, thought, song or suggestion to challenge you, encourage you and make you think about what we are doing together. There will be a new post every day throughout Lent (meaning you won't find a new post on a Sunday, because Sundays aren't included in Lent) so please do come back and have a read.
But we don't just want you to hear from us - we want to hear from you! Please feel free to use the comments on the daily posts to share your stories and scriptures too. Let us know what God is doing as you step out and seek to "live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ" (Ephesians 5:2). This will encourage all of us and maybe give people new ideas too. And to get you started, if you are planning to Love 40 days, please comment below with your name and let us know you're in! You can also email us with longer stories - love40days@gmail.com.
And if you can make it, you can find out more about Love 40 days at our pancake launch on Tuesday 12th February at 4:30pm - don't forget to sign up if you are coming...
We're in!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!
ReplyDeleteAnd us! Lovely evening together sharing pancakes, excited to see what God is going to do, (and a little nervous too!). I'm remembering the story of Joshua, God said to him "wherever you set your foot, you will be on land I have given you" "... I will be with you as long as you live." ".."Be strong and very courageous". I may have taken this a little out of context but if we give this to God asking him to have his way, lead us to do what he wants for these people he has put on our minds, we may well have to be bold but surely he will be with us every step of the way.
ReplyDeleteKizzy and I are in. Looking forward to becoming better at loving our neighbour.
ReplyDeleteThe Hilton's are giving it a go :)
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I (Margaret) heard that a dear friend's mum had passed away. It happened to be a day I was at home, and so instead of just adding to the growing list of facebook condolence comments, I was able to drop a card with flowers and chocolates round. I know chocolates are not the usual thing to give on this type of occasion, but I thought it might be something nice for the children as they had just lost their nan too. No one was in so the gifts were left in the porch. I hadn't been in touch my friend for quite a while and I didn't even know her mum had been ill. This made me really sad and I then spent the afternoon wondering if my gifts had been 'appropriate' after all. I was just getting ready for bed when the phone rang - my friend. She had been delighted to find the things left in the porch and the kids chilled out in front of the tele that evening with the chocolates. The best bit of course, was having a good chat with my friend.
We picked out the lolly pop man in our box yesterday, I made a card with lovely pictures and thanked him for his help. I gave it to him on my way home from school, he said thank you and he loved the picture. Day one a success.
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear these stories from Margaret and Jodie. Keep them coming!
