Why?

Ephesians 5:2 tells us to: live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ.  He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.

Lent is the 40 day period leading up until Easter and is traditionally the time of year when followers of Jesus remember the 40 days that Jesus spent in the wilderness, preparing for His mission.  Often, people will choose to mark this by giving something up for 40 days, maybe a favourite item of food or entertainment.  This year, rather than giving up chocolate or a TV show, we would encourage you to give up something of yourself as you seek to be a pleasing aroma to God, by living a life filled with love, just as Jesus did.
Jesus came to make us, His followers, more like Him.  Part of His plan is that through us being changed by His love, more people will come to know and love Him too.  Jesus tells us: I am giving you a new commandment: love one another.  Just as I have loved you, you should love each other.  Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples. John 13:34.  This Lent, we would like to take Him at His word and Love 40 days...
